A 78-second photo journey: archival pages and photographs lead into the facade, lobby, corridors, room, MIRA and courtyard pool.
The film opens with “1891 to 2026 — An address. A living legacy.” Four archival documents are followed by six photographs of people, conversations and gatherings. It then moves to original photographs of the hotel facade, heritage lobby, timber corridor, Heritage King room, MIRA restaurant and courtyard pool. It closes with “A living legacy. Your next chapter.” The camera movement is created from still photographs; it is not newly recorded walkthrough footage.
1891 · THE BEGINNING
Founded in 1891 by E. Magry, a member of Pondicherry’s Creole community, the hotel remains at its original address in White Town. Its history is woven into the cultural meeting of French and Indian life.
With 18 themed rooms across its Heritage and Grand collections, the property brings heritage architecture together with an Art Deco wing influenced by Chettinad design. Timber details, patterned floors and shaded passages give every corner its own character.
E. Magry establishes Grand Hotel D’Europe.
The hotel remains in the heart of White Town.
Characterful rooms, MIRA dining and warm hospitality.
